As with all dogs, the little Chihuahua needs proper training. Don’t let these dogs small size fool you. They are one of the more aggressive breeds around. Most Chihuahua owners assume that these cute little dogs cannot get into much trouble. This is a mistake, as they are one of the most stubborn breeds as well. Chihuahua‘s have quite a unique nature. They are perfect companion dogs and will be quite happy to spend all their time with you. Chihuahua‘s breeding leads to this attachment to their owners. It is this attachment that can lead to their dominant behavior. This is what makes socializing these little guys so important. Failure to do so will lead to a number of bad aggression issues with this small breed.
Chihuahua‘s although tiny dogs will seem to project themselves to be larger than life. In humans this is often referred to as “small mans syndrome”, well the Chihuahua is a classic dog example of this. Chihuahuas tend to hold themselves aloof to strangers and can be rather unfriendly to children. They are also somewhat skittish and are quite jumpy to loud noises and so forth. How to Train a Chihuahua
If given the chance your little Chihuahua will take control of your home. They will display this behavior in however manner they see fit. You need to assert your dominance over them or be controlled by them. So right from the start, take ownership of your home.

Feeding Times – You need to set the times that the dog gets fed. Do not allow them to manipulate you with their cuteness.
Walking – These little guys need to be walked often, if possible twice a day even. Let your Chihuahua know who is in charge when the walk is happening though. Do not let him lead you all over the place and make sure to maintain proper leash control.
Jumping and Furniture – You need to set the boundaries for these small dogs, or they will take control of your space. Do not allow your Chihuahua to get up whenever he wants or wherever he wants. If he resorts to whining or barking you must ignore him or give up your dominance over him. Remember, a well balanced dog is a happy dog. All dogs, including this small little aggressive breed needs stern and solid control in order to feel secure within the pack.
Coming and Going – Only give your Chihuahua your attention when he has reached a state of calmness. Upon arriving at home, do not allow him to command your attention immediately by acting up. Only when he has calmed down should you acknowledge him. This will ensure that he knows that acting up will not earn your attention or affection.
These little guys will take the whole arm if you allow them the finger, so you need to be stern for them to learn.
How to Train a Chihuahua – Mental Stimulation
Chihuahua‘s are small little dogs so they can easily be worn out. Most people therefore do not take these little guys out to the park all that often and they usually spend a lot of time on your lap doing very little physical activity. These little guys need exercise just like any other dog. Not to mention mental stimulation. Make an effort to train these little guys to sit and stay or to be calm and quiet as this will stimulate them mentally. It’s also more rewarding to have a calm, cute and confident little Chihuahua as opposed to an obnoxious little growling and snarling monster.
These little dogs can be quite a handful when not stimulated or if they are bored. You need to consume their stored up energy with some good exercise. You also need to assert your Alpha position. If these little guys are allowed they will gladly assume the role of Alpha pack leader. Avoiding the latter will ensure that your little Chihuahua is enjoyed by all and not avoided due to bad dog behavior.
