Paris, the city of light, has been one of the most famous travel destinations in the world. Become the host of haute-couture fashion and fine gourmet, Paris also keep its secrets of exciting venues and activities. And you could enjoy them without spending a huge cost, but still get new unforgettable experiences.
Next time, when you set Paris as your travel destination, try to visit different places than most of tours offer. Go by yourself this time, without joining any tour, and you would be surprised at many wonderful things you would find this time!
St. Bernard
The best way to explore the city is by metro. For that purpose, take these travel tips for visiting Paris:
* Find small hotels near metro stations.
*Ask for free metro map and city map from the hotel (even small hotels there provide maps for tourists).
* Plan your trips (hotel receptionists can also have ideas for places you must see).
* Adjust your trip destination with metro tracks.
* From metro station, take a walk to the destination. This way you can get the city feel with its life and cultures.
Jardin
One of my favorite places in Paris is its ‘jardin’ (the French phrase of park). Paris has so many parks all around the city, and if you are lucky, you will find ones with tranquil and green atmosphere, out of the city hectic. There won’t be anything more comforting than sitting on the park bench, under the leafy trees, do nothing but viewing flowing water of little waterfall on the pond, and feel the wind that breeze through the leaves. Jardin de la Vallée Suise, in the Garden of the Champs-Élysées, at the junction of the Cours de la Reine, Cours Albert 1er and Avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt, Eighth Arrondissement, is one of those parks, which opens 24 hours daily.
At some other jardin, such as at Jardin Tino Rossi, you could also enjoy some entertainment in summer Sundays. A group used to play some instruments (usually accordion, violin or saxophone) and sing for whoever comes and enjoy the summer breeze. It’s located on Quai St.-bernard, Fifth Arrondissement; opening every Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to dusk, and Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to dusk.
Eglise
Whether you are or you are not a Christian, visiting a church can be something interesting. Try to take a metro to the north, at Montmartre, and visit La Basilique du Sacré-Coeur which is located on the second highest view point of Paris after Eiffel. You won’t miss its white and glorious shape from most point of view of Paris.
Flea Market
Besides Sacré-Coeur, the biggest flea market in Europe is also located in Montmartre. It’s called Marché aux Puces de St. Queen. Flea market is an exciting place and way to shop. You can find cheap antiques till vintage dresses in a very affordable price. There are more than 2000 stalls along 10 miles of walkways! Don’t forget: prepare to bargain as soon as you arrive here!
Café
During my visit in Paris, rather than having lunch in restaurants, I prefer to have French cakes and mousses at many cafés alongside of the streets. Pick the tables near the street, so that you can watch the busy live in Paris.
Souvenir
If you only have limited time to shop for souvenirs, try the shop that is located in the 2nd floor of Eiffel Tower. You will find many miniatures of famous monuments of Paris, including the famous Eiffel Tower. Find also lovely scarves, and small pieces of caricatures of Paris or Arc de Triomphe together with the stand, which you can place on your desk, as the reminder of your nice vacation in Paris.
Bateux Mouche At Night
Last but not least, don’t miss the Bateux Mouche waterway trip experience at the last night of your visit in Paris. There are 8 stations of bateux mouche, but my favorite is the one near Eiffel tower. You will experience the magnificent of the city of light, and the romantic atmosphere, which you will never forget, from the bateux mouche that cruises along the Seine River.
Bon voyage !
